I must admit, I thought I would have had more entries on this platform by now, but here we are. Nonetheless, today’s liberal art of choice is rhetoric. Good, ole’ fashioned words.
Today is also April Fool’s Day. I celebrated by asking another poet if he was ready for our show tonight (our show is on the 5th). I got him real good, for about 5 minutes before I let the cat out of the bag.
Besides pranking some of my favorite people, today also marks the first day of National Poetry Month, both in the States and Canada. So I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to share a poem that collected dust.
If you’re wondering what a poem that collected dust is, it's a piece I wrote at least one year ago, that I’m going to share here. This platform is about creative autonomy after all.
So here’s a broadside of a poem I wrote, called “the pledge”:
I don’t know if I ever would have gotten this poem published in a literary magazine. But I’m glad I wrote it two years ago, and you better believe I’m glad I’m sharing it now.
Thanks for reading and enjoying the liberal arts with me.
